Displays at the Canyonville museum trace the history of the South Umpqua Valley from the days of the Indians through the arrival of the pioneers, who were lured by the Donation Land Claim Act and tales of mineral wealth. Due to flood damage the museum is closed until April 2006.
Other nearby museums are the Oakland Museum, the Umpqua Discovery Center and the Umpqua River Lighthouse Museum.
